Rats preparing for Saturday’s bout and looking good

by allthingsace

Narragansett, RI- Thirteen of the Rats 17 girl roster showed up to play in the last scrimmage before their bout against the Old Money Honeys. Manager, Wicked Stella, and jam coach Cleo Patronize added an additional element to the experience of playing roller derby.

During practice newbie jammers Ruka A. Salt, SmackGyver and Slice Cakes never gave up on moving their feet, slipping through the pack and maintaining speed. Ruka, who showed up to practice after playing with the Killah Bee’s the night before, is just one example of the hard work and dedication that all of the Rats are putting forward in order to put up a good fight at this Saturday’s bout.

The first home bout of Providence Roller Derby’s season has crept up quickly. Newbies have been training since October and have just over a half a year of skating under their belts. Considering some girls had never put on skates before trying out for the league, this is quite an accomplishment! Ready or not, here they come!
