California schools must choose from ‘Draconian’ models
It looks like 12 San Francisco schools are headed for the same fate as schools in Rhode Island. In Rhode Island 6 of the 11 schools identified as low performing land in the bottom 5%, and in California 12 of 188 schools identified are in San Francisco!
The San Francisco Chronicle does a nice job of outlining the reform choices as well as a list of the schools in the Bay Area that have been identified as consistently low performance.
This article is so articulate it raises a few questions with respect to Rhode Island’s situation. Specifically, is Central Falls High School in the running for a $2 million Title I School Improvement grant as a result of instating the turnaround model?
